  About Us

"I like every teacher at the studio... they teach, challenge,
congratulate, and make it fun and worthwhile. I always
learn something, whether it's about yoga or myself."

Yoga Etiquette

These basic rules of good yoga etiquette will help you feel comfortable when entering an unfamiliar setting. You will honor your fellow yogis by following our advice. Check out our FAQs.

Remove Your Shoes
It is recommended to practice yoga barefoot and 95% of people do. Since people will be walking around the lobby and studio barefoot, it is most hygienic if everyone removes their shoes immediately upon entering the lobby. There is a rug near the door for this purpose.

Turn Off Your Cell Phone
For the benefit of all students, please turn off or mute your cell phone. Make a habit of doing this as soon as you get to the studio.

Arrive On Time
Arrive at least 10 minutes before the class is scheduled to start. This will ensure that you won't disturb other students and will help you settle in and prepare yourself for class. If you do arrive late, be respectful of other students and don't enter a class more than 5 minutes after the class has started.

Respect the Teacher
When you enter a yoga class, you sign on to respect the teacher for that time period. You may discover halfway through the class that you don't care for this teacher, style, or hour of the day. But you still should continue with the class, follow the teacher's instructions, take your Savasana, and chalk it up to experience.

Hands-On Instruction
An instructor is your guide through the yoga postures and may provide hands-on adjustments during class. It will aid you in deepening or correcting your posture to receive maximum benefit from the poses while avoiding injury. Instructors will typically mention this at the beginning of class. If you are not comfortable with adjustments, just let your teacher know when they ask, and they will respect your personal space.

Talking During Class
We love to see friends and family practicing yoga together--and people making new friends here at the studio. The positive energy from folks practicing together can be felt by other students. We often see visiting before and after classes which is exactly what we expected and hoped for when we created this new yoga community.

While conversation in the lobby is great, please note that the studio itself is intended to provide students with a calm, meditative environment before and after class and a focused experience during class. We ask that you respect your fellow students by maintaining a respectful quiet in the studio and be mindful of your volume when chatting outside the studio before and after class.

Modifications are Okay
Keep in mind the level of the class you are attending. If it is an advanced class (level 3) and some of the poses are too hard, it is fine to take a more basic variation of the poses being taught. Usually the teacher will offer this option.

No Tagalongs, please
The full yoga experience includes mind-body-spirit and respect is of the utmost importance. Respect your fellow yogis and do not bring children to sit-in on the class. At Yoga 4 You, we prefer ages 13 through adult to attend our regular classes.

Use the Restroom During Resting Poses
It is fine to leave class for a few minutes to go to the bathroom. There is no need to ask the teacher's permission. The best time to go is when there is a period of rest, either in Child's Pose or Downward Dog.

Be Perfume-free
Make every attempt to be fragrance-free before you enter the studio, for the benefit of allergy sufferers.

Don't Skip Savasana
Your final relaxation in Savasana is an important part of your practice. It allows your body to absorb the benefits of your practice. Attempt to keep your mind clear for those few minutes.
